Patient Information

Appointments

To schedule, cancel, or reschedule an appointment, please call our office at 802-636-4133 during office hours, Monday through Friday, or send a request for an appointment.

Kat Mostue-Nesbit FNP is accepting new patients. Dr Russo is accepting new naturopathic orthopedic medicine patients. He is only taking new primary care patients on a case-by-case basis.

Checking-in: To make the most of our time, please complete check-in on the patient portal prior to your visit. Please arrive at least 15 minutes early for preventive and new patient visits. Arrive 10 minutes early for all other scheduled appointments. You will be asked for your government issued ID, insurance card, and copay during check-in at each appointment.

Appointment duration:

  • New patient visits: 50 minutes
  • Follow-up visits are 20 to 30 minutes
  • Annual wellness visits are 40 minutes.
  • Acupuncture: 45 to 60 minutes
Diagnostic Test Results
Diagnostic test results are available through the patient portal as soon as we review them. We will add messages to the results, interpreting the results or suggesting that you make an appointment to discuss further. If you do not sign up for the patient portal, we will make every effort to communicate your results via a letter or a phone call. If you have not received your test results within two weeks, please call us.
Referrals
Some medical issues require testing or specialty appointments. We can refer you to providers at UVM or outside the UVM network if that is in the best interest of your health, or if that is your preference. Our staff will work with you to get specialty appointments and referrals scheduled.
Prior Authorizations
Some testing and treatments require prior authorization from your health insurance. Our staff will work with your insurance company to obtain the authorization. This process can take multiple days to complete. If your insurance denies an authorization, your provider may opt to go with a different plan of care.
Same Day and After Hours Care

If you are sick or injured but are not in immediate danger, please contact our clinic. We will provide advice, schedule you for an office visit, or direct you to the emergency department when that is the most appropriate action.

A limited number of same-day appointments are available, where you can be seen in the clinic or by telehealth in most cases. Please call after 8 am to request a same-day appointment.

A provider is available for emergency calls when the office is closed. Call the main number at 802-636-4133 and select the option for the on-call provider. Please do not call the on call provider line to schedule an appointment or request a prescription refill.

We do not prescribe controlled substances through our on-call service.
When to call the On-Call Physician
  • You think you might need to go to the emergency department, but are not sure
  • You or your child is sick or injured, and you want advice on what to do.

Please have the phone number of your pharmacy available in case you need to give it to the on-call physician.

Late Cancel and No-Show policy
We are a small clinic, which allows us to provide the care that is best for you. We work with your insurance company and are paid for services provided rather than charging a monthly subscription fee. This means that if you don’t show up for an appointment and we are unable to fill the appointment time held for you, we don’t get paid. Therefore, patients are expected to provide a 24-hour notice of cancellation. There is no penalty for the first missed appointment or late cancellation. Patients who have their second missed appointment or late cancellation within 12 months will be charged for the appointment and will only be able to make same-day appointments for the next six months. If, after six months, the patient is able to keep appointments according to our scheduling policy, they can resume normal scheduling. Otherwise, patients who continue to have missed appointments and late cancellations will be dismissed from the practice.
